something I just saw, I think the one who gave the order to let them go should repeat

Dammit, dammit, dammit. This just pisses me off. (And believe me, it takes alot!) Guys, I'm so sorry about this. I thought maybe Alabama had progressed beyond a backwards thinking state. I suppose the 'Old Guard' wasn't ready for you. I'm going to miss listening to you in the morning. I guess I'll have to tune my clock radio to NPR and listen to CDs on the way to work. I will continue to participate in the forum, as long as you guys are willing to keep it up.... If there's anything we can do to help you, please let us know....

Nope, wees jest ass stewpid and ignerant as evr. Ass backward state!!!! I really love Alabama. I've lived here for five years and don't plan to move anywhere else, but DAMN the frigging retarded rubes in this state that have nothing better to do than to try and keep the rest of us from gambling or drinking beer or listening to good talk radio.

I wonder if Matt had an interview the other day when the other hosts had to cover for him?
Well, there is still Rush on the1230AM station to listen to.

I don't recall the reason, if any given, just him apologizing for not being there...it appeared to not have been planned as I recall.

From the google cache of "The Source"...
"The Attack Machine Never predictable and always entertaining, “The Attack Machine” is opening a whole new market in talk radio with their refreshing perspectives and exuberance which is truly the "evolution of talk radio." They make listeners want to call in and become “cogs in the machine.” Jackson and Hobbs pride themselves in having made a radio show that reaches out to such a diverse fan base, whether it be the young, old, on the left or the right.Hobbs, a no-nonsense libertarian and Jackson a military-minded conservative combine to produce thought provoking commentary and cutting sarcasm. Whether it be local politics, the war on terrorism or the latest celebrity nonsense “The Attack Machine” keeps listeners coming back for more until we fire them because our description was too accurate, and we decided that you'd rather listen to that nut Hank Erwin, Preacher and the Doc, or maybe a couple of hogsf***ing in the mud. (In HD!!!)
Sorry guys. It's got to be hard to take being stabbed in the back by such a Godly organisation, but you both have the potential to go a lot farther than Crawford could ever take you.
Think of it as a blessing to get out of there so you can move on up in life...

Think of it as a blessing to get out of there so you can move on up in life... While you're probably right, Crawford did go and leave the guys high and dry without a paycheck without any warning until the very day they were let go. I think that's a horrible thing to do to a loyal employee. I can't think of too many places in the workforce where a company would tell you to get lost in one day without any opportunity to find another job before losing your paycheck.

The fact that they were not even given two weeks severance blows. That's just plain wrong under this type of circumstance.

The fact that they were not even given two weeks severance blows. That's just plain wrong under this type of circumstance. I understand that in the radio world, there's likely a half-assed explanation to this. If told that they were going to be fired in two weeks, they could theoretically go on the air and disparage the station during their remaining time. But I think it could be handled fairly in this manner... "Hey guys, the ratings are not where they should be, so we're gonna give you a month to try and 'work things out' and get your ratings up. If it doesn't pan out in a month, then we're gonna call you on the carpet to talk about other options." That way, they know that they should be looking around, but they also feel that they can make things better where they currently are. It's probably just a silly suggestion on my part. I don't know poot about the radio business, but it seems like a better way to do business than screw your employees. After Russ and Dee and now Chris and Dale, who in the hell wants to come work for 101 when they know they might get screwed?

Exactly. Damn, is 3 months in radio equivalent to 4 seasons in Alabama football?
It doesn't make sense for employers to not want their employees to succeed. Usually, there is a period of time given and at least one warning...even then, under the circumstances of it not working out...a severance package is customary.
Well, Lee Davis will be doing the morning slot again until they get other people.

It's terrible to lose the two funniest hosts on that station. It seems sad when someone has to monitor themselves so closely to keep from upsetting those who sit in wait to be offended. Imus losing his job and then this! I only hope someone of the likes of Frank or Hunter is not thrown into the slot. Has anyone heard when they laugh!

I just sent some emails to the 101.1 . I believe the Attack Machine was the source's step out of the stone age. Now that you guys are gone, I only have the Matt Murphy show to listen to. I have to agree with Brandon, Lee Davis in the morning!!!! Step 1 Insert loaded pistol in mouth Step 2 Pull trigger

I only hope someone of the likes of Frank or Hunter is not thrown into the slot. Has anyone heard when they laugh! Thats part of the problem. We should focus our support on what matters - the content of the shows, not minor stylistic points. SUBSTANCE OVER STYLE!!!!

well as soon as think Alabama might just be ready to move forward...here we go back again
the problem is that the SO CALLED Bible belt spends way to much time being very hatefilled
when those of us that are in the MAJORITY learn to speak up and demand better then things might change
the radio station has ONE good program left and that is Matt Murphy...it will be the only time my radio is turned to 101.1 the Source

I will say that as a former Source employee, what's happened does not surprise me. I actually got to listen to TAM for a little while yesterday and I really enjoyed their discussion on the whole Imus thing. I was laughing!
I've heard many rumors that WYDE will be going all paid-programming...and that's a shame. If you guys out there really wanna protest, don't listen to WYDE any longer and convince all your friends and businesses not to listen as well. If there are any sponsors left, then voice your displeasure to them as well. Letter-writing is always better than calling or emailing.
To TAM: if you guys wanna go to 1070, I'm sure they would welcome you. They are actually pretty respectable over there. If you guys need anything, feel free to leave a message and I will return it ASAP.

Well, 101.1 lost a loyal listener. I will forget it is even on my dial. I think I might have to agree, even though it would suck not listening to Matt Murphy. Message to the Source: Hey, MORONS! Lee Davis isn't entertaining enough to be the consolation/go-to-boy/make-you-forget-about-the-show-that-just-got-ripped-off-the-air interim show. For God's sake. It's painful enough to listen to him during his own show. Play some polka music from 5-9. Message to Lee Davis: Lee, you're coming off as a sucker for being that go-to-boy. You're like the good son that sucks up to Mom and Dad after the little brother screws up. A martyr. They're just using you, because you're there, you'll color in the lines, and you'll let them stick you wherever. They don't think you're good enough for a four hour show. Or else, they would hire you for the morning show. Painful.

I agree dixiepixie. I let Steve Armstrong woo me into listening when the new people came on. I have to admit I thoroughly enjoyed Dale and Chris to my surprise. BUT this time there was NO reason what so ever for what Crawford did. They dumped on R&D but at least R&D had an inkling it could happen, Alabama is their home AND Russ has a full time job at the hospital. To bring someone from another state where they have to get a new home, new drivers license and all the crap that goes along with making a major life change move just to keep them for 3 months is INSANE.
I have no use for the station any longer. I quit listening to Matt when I tuned out after R&D left...he always got on my nerves anyway. So I will now just keep the dial on Y94...I enjoy John Tesh, Mark, Mac and Jill and our local station 102.9 when I am in range. I WILL call Steve Armstrong one more time to thank him for once again screwing over the listeners...not to mention two great hosts.
As long as people tune in the station to listen to the other hosts, Crawford will continue the crap. UNTIL it hits him in his extremely DEEP pockets nothing will change. Actually from what I have researched on the man, even that probably won't change his psychotic behavior. But for me, I won't waste any more time on the station and that really sux because I do really enjoy talk radio.

I will say that as a former Source employee, what's happened does not surprise me. I was writing my post above as you were writing this. I am in total agreement with you here. The station has GOT to be tuned out and sponsors contacted so the station loses revenue. The lack of money DOES talk loudly!

I'm sad to hear that the Attack Machine are gone. Three months doesn't seem like a fair amount of time to give you guys a chance to catch on. I guess some of the listeners got sand in their vaginas over your use of the word "friggin". It's a shame. I won't be listening anymore... Now if I could just figure out how to reprogram my stereo button...

This is a copy of the email that I sent to Crawford:
To whom it may concern: I was very disheartened and angry by the treatment of Dale Jackson and Chris Hobbs who are the hosts of the radio program "The Attack Machine". For a station and company that claims to be about "God", and a "Christian" station, you surely acted in a very un-Christian manor. You obviously previewed their show before hiring them, and you were fine with the format at the time. They left a job that they had for a long time to take a job in another state and moved up here for what, to be fired in 3 months because the "good ol' boys" decided they weren't Christian enough? Surely you realize that 3 months is not long enough for a good indicator of how the ratings would pan out, so the only other reason that seems plausible is that they weren't toeing the company line. I will end this by saying that you have lost this listener and most probably many more. Hopefully in the future you will consider that not everyone that listens to talk radio wants to be preached to and have conservative propaganda spewed at him or her every minute of everyday. Sincerely, Jeff McCoy

hate to kick sand in the face here guys but- this show would've been 1000 times better without dale jackson.
he's the only reason I disliked listening to you guys in the morning.
you don't need a host with a dissenting opinion just for the sake of having a dissenting opinion on the show... but if you do, you don't need to have one that's overall not very intelligent with his viewpoints.
he's the oil to your water, chris. you were the one making sense most of the time in a calm tone of voice. you didn't need to TALK ALL LOUD LIKE A WANNABE DRILL SERGEANT WITH A DEVIATED SEPTUM to get your point across.
I feel that if he wasn't part of the show, or if he toned it down a little bit, you'd still be here.
/for what it's worth
