dale if the governor or legislators told crawford they dont like a particular show do you think crawford is going to tell those fired where the compaints came from? bill, I don't think that could have anything to do with it. Matt would've been gone long ago if the government had its say.

dale if the governor or legislators told crawford they dont like a particular show do you think crawford is going to tell those fired where the compaints came from? plausable deniability, and when told you will lose business if they stay on the air, indeed a "business" decision is made at that time. All I am saying is I do not believe that was a factor here. It was a business decision.

What hurts the most is knowing that most of the complaints were outright falsehoods, many of which told of "swear words" we'd say on the air Since Dale made reference to "Friggin" during a post, I'll assume that that's considered a swear at 101?

Yep and after we were told not to say it, it did not appear. We were very managable, they just saw we weren't going to fit where they were trying to go. Nothing more, nothing less.

Did they not check out your previous show in FL? I would assume that, if anything, you pushed the envelope more there than you had here.
At some point you guys are going to get tired of us talking about this....we appreciate your patience while we go over this in our thoughts. Plain and simple, we don't like it and we are here for you two in whatever capacity develops.

They listened to it and we voiced those concerns about it possibly not fitting into the "Christian Broadcasting" philosophy. We were told that was not the case.

Surely they knew exactly what they were getting when they invited them up for a job. They're called "The Attack Machine" for crying out loud.

If you guys didn't fit into the "Christian model" of what Crawford requires, I think that says far more about Crawford than it does you guys.
Now if they wanted the radio version of Ernest Angley, then yeah they didn't make the best choice hiring you two. Somehow though, having MM as an on-air personality makes me doubt that's the reason.
If it's a ratings thing, I can see that. On-air personalities are under incredible pressure to deliver ratings and listener loyalty because ad revenue derives almost soley (I'm told) from those factors.
What makes that possibility fishy is that they gave you only three months to build your audience. Now I have no idea nor way of knowing what your numbers are/were, but that just does not seem like enough time to divine any sort of ratings trend.
If the numbers were so bad that Crawford doesn't think you can build on them at all, that's another animal entirely. I can't see that being the case though.
I didn't get to listen everyday but, when I did, it sure seemed like you had a pretty wide range of callers with many, many familiar names, voices and ideologies. I'd think that would be exactly what Crawford wants.
I certainly wish you guys the best. Radio is a tough, tough business (like you need me to tell you that, right?). Talent though can and will overcome the setbacks and you guys DO have talent.
Godspeed and best of luck to you both. You'll be missed.

for clarification, i am NOT saying some big conspiracy is going on...i AM saying that big and small business work hand in hand with politicians/government on MANY issues to the detriment of the citizens(taking our money from us).
do any of you deny that on occassion business and government try to influence each others decisions?
IF someone on radio offends the wrong people(politicians)are you folks telling me they wouldnt "suggest" things to the radio station owners?
i ASSURE you some of the politicians that have been getting phone calls since the raise have expressed opinions that crawford is aware of at this time.
i also am certain that burt and kurt didnt like the attack machine.
the source needs NEW callers and the machine COULD have made that happen.......i am tired of being called a pervert by dawson because in summer i exercise in a swimming pool that sometimes has females in swimwear present!

Just want to let you know that I AM a Christian and I wasn't sure I would like you two when you came in. BUT I found that you were very refreshing and didn't get under my skin like I first thought you would. You are young and it shows in many of your remarks, but that is what is EXPECTED from young people. Personally I think you were both given a raw deal.
I talked to Steve Armstrong for over an hour on the phone when he was told to call me after I called the Corporate office up north complaining about R&D's ridiculas canning. Guess I will be calling again to let him know I gave it a try as he asked me to and now he can take the station and drop it off a cliff far as I am concerned.
You two take care and I will be praying you land on your feet and find a great station to work at.

In case my last post got lost along the shuffle, I just want to again thank everyone for the best wishes and prayers.
I don't know what is left to say. I enjoyed posting here and may continue to do so if and when a new board pops up. I have faith in what we do and feel, eventually, we'll wind up somewhere where our brand of humor and thought provoking commentary will fit.

So do I...and I do not think it will be very long before you do... I agree. I think that 1070 is a good station. I don't know what their current situation is, but I think they recently lost their main morning guy to syndication. I'd love for you guys to get a spot over there (and I don't mean "you guys" like Imus ).

Not Christian enough huh? This station is cutting its own throat. I will hate to see you guys leave.
Of course this gives the Bible belt a real good name, letting go two guys who are actually relevant to today's issues.

What the f*ck.................
once again.....Crawford.............
alright , you've shown your posteior again............now bring back either Russ and Dee....or Chris and Dale......or just pull the plug on your radio station here........
In my opinion, Crawford Broadcasting is wishy washy.........as far as I am concerned, you can take your radion station and cram it up your servers.........
YOU dont know a good team when you have it right before you.............
pissed at CBS (Crawford Broadcasting System)

No..it's my fault. Yesterday, we came back from a break. If you could hear under the music, we were laughing at something. That something was an off air comment I had made while looking out the window into the parking lot during a break. Something about humans being creatures of habbit and how we all parked in the exact same parking space every day. And then we go through the motions and routine, day in day out. Today I forced myself to park in a different space. And here we are. Of course I'm not really blaming my parking change on today's events, but it is funny to play the 'what if' game and wonder why fate takes us where it does. That's why one of the only -ISMs I subscribe to is Fatalism. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Fatalism Or, for you more religious types, the Serenity Prayer: www.cptryon.org/prayer/special/serenity.html Or for you Seinfield types: Serenity now. Insanity later.

I haven't listened to the early morning slot at 1070 since the morning crew went elsewhere, but the website shows no host for 6am to 9am. Several weeks ago, John Ed Willoughby and Doug Layton were asked to come back and do the morning time slot "for a few days." Last I heard they were still there...I think that would be a good place for "our guys."

Chris and Dale...I do not think this has anything to do with christianity. It has EVERYTHING to do with silencing talk show hosts that will talk about important issues that effect the PEOPLE. The political elites cannot afford for the sheeple to know what is going on. If politicians had their way there would be NO talk show radio. I am posting an article here that is going to impact Alabama deeply and I hope everyone reads it. I will post it on the state board.
Anyway, this is just another example of the elites silencing the people. I wish you all the best and I will say this to you. NEVER GIVE UP THE FIGHT! NEVER! Whether anyone wants to admit it or not I feel we are going to be in the fight for our lives very soon.
I know a lot of people did not like Russ and Dee but you have to admit they kept us informed on the issues that main stream media would not tell you. Chin up and keep being a cog in the machine!!!!

FUCK Crawford broadcasting.
It's a goddamn cult.
The Attack Machine is/was the best talk radio this town has ever seen.
The entire city is hurt by his decision.

To 1070 AM via their webmail:
"Dear Sir or Madam,
It is my understanding that the morning guys at 101.1, Chris Hobbs and Dale Jackson, were "let go" today because their show didn't fit into the station's "Christian format."
These guys have been very entertaining to many of the local talkshow listeners, and it would be an absolute shame not to keep them in Birmingham.
I used to listen to your station in the mornings before Dixon and Willoughby departed. I'm not sure what your current morning situation is, but I would love for your station to consider keeping "The Attack Machine" in Birmingham. I will definately tune into your station to hear them.
Truly yours,
Brandon *****"

so maybe matt decided to offer a "they go or i go" because they are actually the first ones with enough talent to maybe challenge his kingdom?
I wouldt put it past him.
Insecure people suck and he comes across all cocky and confident but in all the talk you can tell he is one insecure sombitch byt the way he talks to and about others.
I didnt always agree with you guys obviously but I applaud your abilities nonetheless.
If anyone complained it was some of these 90 year olds that call in to shit like Burt and Kurt. The ones so out of touch with the rest of the world that I actually change the channel when their dumbass calls in
