The Erwin show is unabashedly a Christian perspective on current events. Why there are continual complaints about this is mind boggling. Turn the dial during that time if what they say or the music they play isn't something you don't like. Erwin or his guest host are not going to turn into atheists no matter how much you complain. Exactly! We have the right to not listen. What a country! Some folks listen to or watch shows because they need something to complain about. Just remember this...Broadcasting is for entertainment purposes only now and not necessarily for information purposes. That's why there are advertisements on the shows. I judge my spending by the target client and where the ads are being placed. Here are some examples. I will not shop at Dairy Queen because I'm not their target client. How do I know this? It's indicated by the ads with the two fools in a car and their exchange of words. I'm just not as stupid as that. I won't shop at the restaurant in Oneonta because of where they placed ads...WYDE...besides, I have eaten there and for the price, you could get more MSG, sodium and grease; pound for pound at a Cracker Barrel. I won't buy a car from Southtown Motors or get a mortgage from Americapital because of the show they sponsor. They're sponsors of the Hank Erwin show and obviously want only the type of persons who agree with that mentality. I will not shop at McDonald's because I don't have kids who beg for toys nor do I need to shop a dollar menu. I just don't fit the profiles.

My opinion is that a God-fearing man or woman could not sit idly by and allow business as usual. Even if it is "politics."
Anyone down there in position who shakes hands/slaps backs, etc. and goes along to get along is no better than the next guy.
Christians should be different.

I don't live in his county, so I can't do anything about him, if I wanted to. Are you in his county?
As far as Erwin, I believe he is doing what he can as one person to push for righteous "things" to occur. In other words, he is trying to walk his talk. How effective he can be is another matter.
I don't listen to his show everyday but I believe he is at least one legislator, pushing for a ban on abortions excluding the life of the mother. If I was going to focus on the top righteous thing to do, that would be it. I can't think of any public services that would be a higher priority, then to end the unjustifiable killing of babies. That's my opinion.
I will admit that the beer issue is a much lower priority but I don't think he has any more power than anyone else, especially being a Republican, to force what comes up for a vote in the Legislature.

I have never been in the Legislature but I doubt it highly that it would be more effective for him to install a pulpit and damn people to hell, in order for change to occur. He sounds like an intelligent man, so he is probably doing things in a way that is more effective and doesn't compromise his morals. I haven't seen anything from him that would be contrary at this point. Maybe the beer issue....but he may just believe it's the right thing to do, I don't understand it.

My problem is not the talk-show really. It's that we just hear all this righteous talk, etc. and no action in Montgomery. How can real Christians turn a deaf ear to the corruption down there? How can they allow business as usual? Apparently, it is okay with the constituents. Just like most things that we complain about on this board. Perhaps it's because the business as usual is being done by real Christians. Perhaps the ones involved in Government are not ''Real Christians''......and 'killer' has dug past the periphery.....to the 'meat' of the problems----I agree.....REAL CHRISTIANS could not (would not) stand around and tolerate the Daily Corruption of their 'pals' Montgomery or Washington!

What do you expect "real" Christians to do? Please give a specific list.

So for some people, the "I'm against abortion" line is all it takes to get their vote. SAD!
Lawmakers sit by allowing business as usual which includes favors for campaign donors (understatement), friends, and family. They allow sneakiness with bills (like lines with favors/tax breaks, etc.) inserted where they have no place. They know it happens and accept it as "politics."
Those who label themselves as Christian are guilty of this just like those who do not use the label to get votes.
It's sickening!

Not sure where you are directing this. But my answer is that if a Christian can't figure out what to do, they don't have the sense to be in a lawmaking position. I'm not suggesting that they could cause great change overnight. But the rate of effort is unacceptable! Or should be unacceptable.

Erwin is a legislature and not in any authority to carry out investigations of corruption. I am sure thathe would tell you that if he had proof of corruption with people he works with, he would bring it to the attention of those that do have authority to prosecute. If you have any evidence to the contrary, you could send it to the Attorney General? As far as abortion, it's about what you would consider as a priority. Erwin being against something isn't enough, I agree but he is doing more than just talk. www.lifesite.net/ldn/2006/mar/06032704.htmlto

I am curious as to what that list would be. You can either give that to the forum or keep it to yourself, your choice.

We have a large segment who will stand by their man solely on the abortion issue (real or imagined.) Another large segment who only care about a puffed up bureacracy and their check.
So our government will continue to spiral out of control.

"We have a large segment who will stand by their man solely on the abortion issue (real or imagined.)"
Well, in this case and the person we are speaking about, it's not imagined, it's real. I gave you the link. So, what righteous talk is Erwin making that he isn't trying to carry out in the capacity that he can.

Why do you even ask about the other issues? The abortion one is enough for you.
Once I heard a Republican from Missouri or Kansas mention "hiding her vote." Not sure exactly how she was doing this but those were her words. I asked how she could do that and call herself a Christian? Because earlier she was talking about Christianity, etc. She said, "We have to do this (hiding) or we won't go back in -- we feel it's more important to have someone in the seat who is anti-abortion..." She went on to say that if they had to lie and/or hide votes on other issues to keep this position, then they felt it was worth it.

I asked about the other issues because that is what your rant was about. Provide what it is Erwin is doing or not doing that is contrary to his morals or your morals. The generalities and bringing up other states leads me to believe your judgment is based on something other than facts in relation to Erwin. Your initial complaint was that he talked righteous but wasn't doing anything...I gave you a link that showed one such instance where you are wrong. Provide something to the contrary in regards to Erwin. That being said, it is your prerogative to judge people in that manner but some of us need more substantive quantifications. I don't make judgments on people based off of what other people do, don't do or say.

killer -
So, you are saying you have evidence that Erwin has done one or more of the things listed in post#157?
Please point what specific ones and give all the evidence you have for this accusation. If how the forum members reacted to the TAM firings is any indication, we would certainly push this evidence to the proper people, in order to have it addressed.
Will await your evidence.
