Muslim society generally detests Western culture. Not just the Jihadists, but virtually all Muslims. I base that statement on having lived among and worked with Muslims from several nations in a Western, and very liberal, society in Europe. The majority tend to integrate themselves into their adopted societies only to the extent of learning enough of a language to get by on.
Democratic forms of government, as well as what we generally refer to as Western culture, are anathema to Islam.
Not being a fan of Muslim culture or Islamic principles, I only hope that they DO embrace the wreck that has become our culture, only in that said might weaken, and even lead to the destruction of, Islam.
It has indeed done a number on the strength of Christianity, much to our detriment.
Again, there can be no real democratic form of government when the Iraqi constitution derives its power from Islam, as is so stated in the document.
Only if they wish to be liberated from Islam, but then, they have to do that themselves.
Their culture is far older than you suggest.
From the Iraqi Constitution:
Article (2): 1st — Islam is the official religion of the state and is a basic source of legislation:
(a) No law can be passed that contradicts the undisputed rules of Islam.
(b) No law can be passed that contradicts the principles of democracy. The grandest contradiction of all time.
.............and this is what our troops are dying for?
