When all is said and done we might have to.
IF China one day has 3 cars for every 4 people, as the U.S. does......They will have 1.1 BILLION vehicles (thats more than the current 800 million vehicles on the planet)
The US model of using resources will not work for an exploding Chinese middle class......... And if it won't work for China...Then it won't work for India who is projected to have more people than China by 2031.
The more money people have the more energy they use and the more resources they use and create more garbage........look at the price of copper,steel, concrete. This emerging middle class in India and China want bigger homes,cars...STUFF.

Perhaps the only hope is that by the time the Chinese middle class is begin to consume cars at a rapid pace, most of the USA will have alternative-energy vehicles.
Best possible scenarios don't happen often though...
