www.progressive.org/mag_wx052907Saluting Cindy SheehanMay 29, 2007 By Matthew Rothschild More than any person in America, Cindy Sheehan galvanized the peace movement. As a mother who lost her son Casey to the war and would not remain silent, she enabled millions of Americans to see this hideous war for what it was. Along the way, she’s been called every ugly name on the Net, which seems to traffic in misogynistic crudities and computer screen snipers. Rightwing talk show host Phil Hendrie called her an “ignorant cow.” People on the freerepublic.com site called her a “traitor,” and an “insane, psychopathic bitch.” On another site, she was called a “seditious cunt.” Others mocked her grief, with one saying: “Just shit out another kid to take Casey’s place.” (Her resignation was greeted with more of the same on the freerepublic.com site. One person called her “Momma Wacko,” and another wrote, “I hope the b**** gets hit by a bus.”) Through it all, Cindy Sheehan maintained her dignity, her clear head, her courage, and her passion. Never one to play the political game, she attacked Democrats who fronted for this war, and she threw herself into the effort to impeach Bush and Cheney. Now she’s calling it quits, at least for a while. On Memorial Day, she submitted what she called her “ ‘resignation letter’ as the ‘face’ of the American anti-war movement.” When she dared to criticize Democrats, she wrote, she started to get the “same slurs that the right used,” only this time from the left, by which she means the compromisers and capitulators and their apologists within the Democratic Party. She said she’s tired of the in-fighting within the peace movement, disgusted, understandably, with the Democrats, and thoroughly dejected about the possibility of ending this war and rescuing this country. “Casey died for a country which cares more about who will be the next American Idol than how many people will be killed in the next few months while Democrats and Republicans play politics with human lives,” she wrote. And she added: “George Bush will never be impeached.” She has sacrificed immensely to try to end this war. She lost her son, her marriage of 29 years fell apart, and she has endured more slings and arrows than anyone ever deserved. Now she wants to spend more time with her surviving children, and who can blame her for that? “I am going to take whatever I have left and go home,” she wrote. “I am going to go home and be a mother to my surviving children and try to regain what I have lost. I will try to maintain and nurture some very positive relationships that I have found in the journey that I was forced into when Casey died and try to repair some of the ones that have fallen apart since I began this single-minded crusade to try and change a paradigm that is now, I am afraid, carved in immovable, unbendable, and rigidly mendacious marble.” I’m not as despairing as Cindy Sheehan is. Howard Zinn teaches us that even the seemingly most immovable systems can crumble at surprising moments, if we keep pushing. But I certainly understand how Cindy Sheehan could arrive at her conclusion. And I can sense the exhaustion in her letter. “I have spent every available cent . . . [and] have used all my energy trying to stop this country from slaughtering innocent human beings,” she wrote, concluding a little later: “This system forcefully resists being helped and eats up the people who try to help it. I am getting out before it totally consumes me or any more people that I love and the rest of my resources.” Cindy Sheehan is burned out. Not many people could have kept going at that speed. Maybe Ralph Nader could have. Maybe Amy Goodman could have. But that may be it. The rest of us need our down time, diversions, balance, and hobbies. To be “single-minded,” as Cindy Sheehan herself found out, is unsustainable for most mortals. So I’m glad, for her sake, that Cindy Sheehan is going home to regroup and recupe. But I’m saddened for the peace movement, and for the country. Yet I don’t think we’ve seen the last of Cindy Sheehan. I certainly hope not. She’s an extraordinarily decent, selfless, and courageous person. “This is not my ‘Checkers’ moment,” she writes, “because I will never give up trying to help people in the world who are harmed by the empire of the good old US of A.” We all owe Cindy Sheehan a huge debt of gratitude for all that she has contributed. I wish her happiness and comfort and relaxation and love and laughter in her days ahead. And I look forward to joining hands with her again somewhere down the road.

First Ron Paul's meteoric rise in the polls was exposed as a fraud.
Next Rosie leave "The View".
Now Mother Sheehan resigns as the "face" (ewwww!) of the anti-war crowd.
It's been a tough couple of weeks for the Truthers, hasn't it?

Mother Sheehan speaking for herself?
BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Oh that's a good one.
Tell me, law, was she speaking for herself when she described President Bush as a 'caring man' who 'felt some of her pain' or when she referred to him as a 'lying bastard' and 'filth-spewer'?
Remember....BOTH descriptions were of the SAME MEETING with the President.
Her won family knew that she had gone off the deep end. Her husband and surviving kids all think she's a nut- though for some odd reason you never see them interviewed by the MSM (you can bet they'd be on every night f they'd just hate the President like Mother Sheehan does).
She's been caught doing so many illegal- not to even mention immoral- things: 501c3 organizations (Gold Star Mothers For Peace) cannot advocate political positions or endorse political candidates (she has), American citizens are not permitted to travel to Cuba without special permission from the government (she did so)- and those are just for starters.
Mother Sheehan- Champion Of Useful Idiots Everywhere!

Charlie Sheen has backed out of supporting and narrating a film for the Truthers.
They're dropping like FLIES!

If I remember correctly......Cindy is the Primary reason you were 'assigned' your Shill position! She gained SO MUCH support ...so rapidly, 'they' called on their 'top Heathen' to attempt to demean, insult, slander and dis-credit her....but it's been all to no avail, Mr.Spinmeister !
ThesaurusLegend: Synonyms Related Words AntonymsNoun 1.
spinmeister - a public relations person who tries to forestall negative publicity by publicizing a favorable interpretation of the words or actions of a company or political party or famous person; "his title is Director of Communications but he is just a spin doctor"
spin doctor:
public relations person - a person employed to establish and promote a favorable relationship with the public

Newt is anti-free speech but he supports the "war on terror" but he is a "republican" hence good American.
Giuliani, McCain, and Romney support Amnesty, Gun Grabbing,Abortion and taking Americans property and giving it to Europeans....BUT THEY SUPPORT THE "WAR ON TERROR" SO THAT MAKES EVERYTHING OK.
Folks I think the talk radio and so called "right wing" shows starting from old Catholic Rush Limbaugh down to Catholic Sean Hannity, Catholic Bill O'Reilly and Catholic Matt Murphy have been leading folks down the wrong path. These guys PROFESS to be conservative but they always try to get you to settle for the "lesser evil" neocon deceiver.
As for Sheehan, I am for the lady. She has been treated with such disrespect and contempt for attempting to promote peace. If her son was alive now I believe their would be some seriously injured neocons. I know their would be if my mother was treated that way by some wicked neocons. There would not be any road trip too long for me to travel this land to bury my fists in the face of some Neocon filth like Murphy, Hannity, Limbaugh, O'Reilly or Burt and Kurt.
Hopefully Sheehan will get some rest and be satisfied with the fight she fought considering the giants she faced. Hopefully she can find some true rest in the Jesus Christ.
1 Peter 5:6 Humble yourselves therefore under the mighty hand of God, that he may exalt you in due time: 1 Peter 5:7 Casting all your care upon him; for he careth for you.

So much support that, the moment her fifteen minutes were up the extreme Left dropped her like a hit of Xtasy at a Chemical Brothers concert. Mother Sheehan was guilty of being possibly the dumbest person to have regular access to the mainstream media. She was too stupid to know that she was being used for two plus years by the same rabid anti-American extremists who have tossed her under the bus. She discredited herself perfectly well without my- or anyone else's- help. That you and others had to latch onto this poor, miserable wretch is indicative of just how far you're willing to stoop to get your message across. It's pitiable. But look on the bright side.....she's free now to fly down to Caracas and keep her main squeez Hugo company. the two of them are MADE for each other.

Congratulations...you've just described Mother Sheehan exactly.
Well...maybe not 'exactly'.
"Educated"? Not so much.
And I doubt she's a "neocon".
Unless she's part of a vast, Right-wing conspiracy dreamed up by Karl Rove and the New World Order!
Yes! Yes! That's it! Get Alex Jones on the case NOW!

I am very thankful for Sheehan's efforts. She stood up and spoke out for something she was passionate about. She stood for what she believed and was not afraid. How many people can say they have done the same? Not many. If we had more made of what she's made of, we'd have a better, stronger country. It wouldn't be falling apart because the people wouldn't allow so many wrongs.
I hope she gets rest and has good things come her way. She deserves a good life.

Yep, he has stated it numerous times on his show. I don't know if his Catholicism has anything to do with him being a neocon but I just thought it was interesting and worth mentioning. The (Mike?) Reagan fella is also Catholic. So is old danny Bonaduce...He stated he was a catholic after Mark Dice aka "John Connor" interviewed him a while back and made him look like a bozo.

He stated that he wants to see the final cut before he agrees to participate. 3- Have a little respect for a dead soldier's mother. How can you support the troops if you talk about their mothers after they are deceased. I know she is seriously and sincerely wrong on some political issues but I would not want to kick her too hard. Some people don't deal with the loss of a loved one very well, especially a child.

1- What is your proof that Ron Paul's success in the polls was a fraud (evidence now not some neocon talking about what "could have happened). 1. I don't know that there is definitive proof but I wouldn't run around and brag about winning an Internet poll too much. Do the various sites that put up the polls block non-US i.p.s? The problem with Internet polls -- even text message polls -- is that anyone with a connection can vote. From the 13 year old to some person in Singapore. Who knows -- some Iraqis could have voted for Ron Paul because they want the US out of there. Not saying any of this is valid but Internet polls can be very easily skewed. The latest (May 10-13) Gallup poll of Republicans and independents who lean to the Republican Party shows that Ron Paul did not even get enough votes for 1% with Newt Gingrich in the poll and 1% with Newt taken out. The Gallup polls are much more scientific than Internet polls. This number may change since the debates were in this time frame, but how many people actually watched them? Most people could not sit through those things -- just those who are politically inclined.
