www.time.com/time/covers/0,16641,20070326,00.html This is the article where Reagan cries (on front of Time magazine.) Maybe someone can bring over the photo (I don't know how.) Clicking the link does not seem to work -- but copying and pasting the entire web address should work.

That's one hell of a tear. It looks like he has corn syrup on his face.

"That which does not kill us only makes us stronger."
We've got Republican leadership which is most manifestly >NOT< Conservative, and the leadership is growing increasingly distant from the core principals that led to Reagan being elected and Republicans gaining Congress in 1994.
When Chertoff says of the Conservatives that, when it comes to dealing with illegal immigration that the base won't be happy with anything sort of "capital punishment" and Linday Graham calls opponents of this Shamnesty bill "bigots", you sorta get the feeling that the party elites' concepts of Republicanisnm and the bases' concepts might not be quiiiite the same thing.
Democrats didn't win in 2006; Republicans lost.
Lost their core principals, lost their ethical advantage and lost their seats.
Deservedly so.

I love watching you guys eat your own. I think the republicans need more of this:

So Reagan was divorced? So what?
I thought personal foibles delighted your side.
Besides, as marriage is basically a religious practice and so divorce would be ending a religious practice, you should love divorce.
Better a divorcee' than an adulterer.

I guess I have a real Hobson's Choice.
If I agree with something a Republican says or does, I'm a "Republican shill".
If I disagree with something a Republican says or does, then I'm "eating my own."
So much for principal I guess. Maybe I'll just give up principal and become a Democrat. I'd be right at home among them then....
