Article: 'Great possibility' Newt will enter 2008 presidential frayDuh! "His polling is high already, even not being in the race, and I have watched him speak. And I think there is no speaker in America who has the extemporaneous ability he does on the economy, on national defense, on taxation, on social issues, his understanding of the religious founding of America," Thompson says. However, he admits that Gingrich does have some personal baggage that could prove to be liabilities.
"There is the Newt factor," Thompson notes. "There is the personal background and the character issues. He's attempted to account for it by having that interview with James Dobson [of Focus on the Family] and acknowledged that he had cheated on his wife more than once and so forth," the author says, "so that's a factor." Still, he believes Gingrich has the sheer moxie necessary to deal with the liberal media, that he would be formidable in debates, and that he will therefore be in the presidential race very soon.

Newt gave an anti-free speech speech at a 1st Amendment rally. We "gotta stop those terrorists on the internet". He is a pathetic Neocon just like the majority of the million aire wind bags running for office.

Just wanted to throw the name out to see what people thought of him. Me? Not even on the list. If nothing else, do you think the rest of the world will fear and/or respect a man named after a small, slimy amphibian?

I think Barak Hussein Obama has a bigger hurdle with his name than Newton does.
Sidebar - Wikipedia states that Newt is a neoconservative......that's why people shoudn't treat Wikipedia as the end all to be all in fact finding.

If nothing else, do you think the rest of the world will fear and/or respect a man named after a small, slimy amphibian? Some people still respect Bill Clinton. And he actually >IS< a "slimy (though not small) amphibian.

Newt would automatically be the most articulate and intelligent candidate- by far- in either Party.
Someone called Ron Paul a "statesman" in another thread.
Uh-uh...Newt Gingrich is a statesman.
You have to be more than someone with whose ideas you might agree to be a statesman. You've got to be able to identify a problem, explain why it is a problem, explain why your opponent's solution isn't the right one, explain what your solution is and why it is better than your opponents- and do it in a manner that makes your vision clearly superior to that of your opponent at a level of comprehension equivalent to that of your audience.
Newt is a true conservative, he's a teacher, he's a historian and has experience in articulating and enacting a vision.
A website I visit on a regular basis is newt.org. It's well worth a bookmark if you want to read up on what a real conservative thinks about the issues that confront us- as opposed to the Republican elites currently in power who are none of those.

Well it is true that Newt is a pretty intelligent guy, though he loses "statesman" points from when he was part of the group that hoped to marginalize the Democrat party into oblivion a few years back. I find him to be somewhat lacking in non-partisanship... But on a lighter vein, I had heard about an address Newt gave to the league of conservative women voters that gives one some insight into why he won't ever be the president... I think the quote was something along the lines of... "Ladies, I love every conservative bone in your bodies... Especially Mine..." LOL...
