hunter is doing a very good job sitting in for matt. I agree, he should have his own show, I have to admit that I have enjoyed his show more than Matt's.

I heard about 30 minutes.
I've always liked his banter back and forth with Matt.
Personally I think they would make a great team.
You're listening to Murphy and Hunter on 101.1 FM the Source.

hunter was clearly raised by my generation and listened to older folks in his youth.
i loved it when he used "feeling froggy"....lol...far better than calling someone out.
you feeling froggy? then all you got to do is jump, i am right here!
LOL
also he just said ethnicity is OK but remember we ALL are Americans FIRST!

Well, he is black, so statistically, it's a good chance that he was raised by grandparents.

Hunter did a FANTASTIC job on Friday! I only got to hear about 20 minutes during the 5 o'clock hour, but man it was really interesting.
He and the callers were talking about the city council voting on an apology for slavery (was Birmingham even a city yet during slavery?). The callers into the show also were doing a great job during the time I got to listen.
I say that Hunter needs his own show. Even if they'd give him some time on the weekends or at night in place of the replay, I'd love to hear him.
If any of you want to make this happen, you should write to Steve Armstrong at 101 and tell him how much you enjoyed hearing Hunter on the radio.

Welcome back Brandon.
I thought he did a good job as well. His voice was a little too quiet and I had a hard time hearing him. That could have been an equipment issue or he just needs to have more of a radio voice.

hunter did another great job yesterday....deserves his own show.
quick question for the board.....what difference does his skin color make please?
why would anyone even mention that?
could it be for a racist to take a gutless shot at black people in general?

You said, "hunter was clearly raised by my generation and listened to older folks in his youth."
....all I did was give credance to your comment of being raised by your generation by saying, "Well, he is black, so statistically, it's a good chance that he was raised by grandparents."
Is he black? True or False? Being black (It is the year 2007), statistically, it's a good chance that he was raised by his grandparents? True or False?
My statements were not racist nor can you show any evidence of such.
I see that you are taking our "discussion" on the chatroom of 5 minutes ago seriously, in attempting to "expose me". Don't try too hard or you will look foolish.

There was only one post mentioning his skin color above. Sadly, it was somewhat of a stereotypical comment as well, but let's get past that as it wasn't really expounded on. What difference does it make? None, as far as being an intelligent, entertaining show. But having him on the air with his own show would likely increase the number of black listeners and that's good for the demographic. That's not a negative statement, just one that makes sense.

kevin-
It is not a "stereotypical comment" but a statistical fact and my comment was within that scope and context.

skin color matters ONLY to "racists".....simple reality....people that do NOT consider skin color in looking at other people are NOT racists...people that DO consider skin color ARE racists.
intelligent people grasp that we ALL are the same race, the human race and skin color makes no difference.

My comment didn't suggest that it mattered to me one bit. I was only commenting on the reality of your comment in relation to the statistical observation of the last 10 to 15 years.

cricket...cricket....that's what I thought billt. Next time you infer that I am a racist, you better be able to back it up. Why don't you go back to calling me names, like you did on the chat room today, you're good at that and it's a lot easier for you to do then to "expose" me for something only in your mind.

my generation would be his PARENTS not his grandparents, i said he was raised by my generation AND listened to older folks...that means older folks not necessarily anyone in his immediate family.
corny took that as an opening to take a shot at black people in general claiming MOST of their kids are raised by grandparents.
TWISTING my post into an opening for something RACIST is what happened!
being raised by grandparents is NOT unique to the black race, in raw numbers MORE white kids are being raised by grandparents than blacks, and throughout asia grandparents play a HUGE role in raising children!

"my generation would be his PARENTS not his grandparents"
billt - nice try, but it doesn't even make any sense. If your meaning originally was that the generation you were speaking of, would be his parents, then that would make the alternative to be he was raised by his children. You meant that he was raised by is grandparents, you know it, I know it and everybody else knows it.
"take a shot at black people in general claiming MOST of their kids are raised by grandparents"
No, what I actually said was..."so statistically, it's a good chance".
"TWISTING my post into an opening for something RACIST is what happened!"
I believe you are the only one contorting here.
"being raised by grandparents is NOT unique to the black race, in raw numbers MORE white kids"
I know that billt, in case you are wondering, I was aware of the statistics before I posted my original comments. The statistics I was speaking of was in relation to the percentage of black kids ONLY as a group within the group. Nice try again.
You really should quit and go back to calling me names again, you know, like you did on the chat room today.

"hunter was clearly raised by my generation and listened to older folks in his youth."
my generation is the baby boomers, i am 55 and hunter is 26 or 7. his grandmother is the generation BEFORE the baby boomers.
i posted what i meant "MY GENERATION" and that would be his parents NOT his grandparents.
simple stuff for people with basic intelligence.

This conversation and the fact that race overides everything in the state will be Hunter's biggest obstacle. There are large groups of people, probably larger in the source's audience than anywhere else, that will be offended by a black voice on the radio. The n-word was dumped more in 3 months than I have ever heard in my life. Let's just say northern Alabama is not really up with the times.
That being said, I at one time, and I had cleared it with Matt and Hunter, was trying to get Hunter on for an hour after Matt's show so he can get on everyday.

Possibly, could it also be true?
In all seriousness, "on air" stuff is not what did us in, behind the scenes stuff did.

Possibly, could it also be true? To some degree...of course! But you have to 'win' the crowd before you can 'preach' to them.....and I think ya'll had the 'cart before the horse' when you first came on 'the scene'....then later I agreed with alot of you 2's points......but the crowd had already made their hostility known to Crawford...or so it seems!?

The hostility was from a very coordinated minority, mostly organized from inside Crawford.

yes, how dare dale and chris try to have open honest discussion of issues and didnt tolerate racism...that IS why they are gone indeed, because the socalled Christians dont want open honest discussion of issues and certainly desire to be able to use the N word on the air.
GOD also made the black folks and they are MY brothers/sisters just as much as anyone else no matter what color they happen to be.
