So I bought a new PC today. What's been your experiences w/ Vista? It's very NOSY in asking questions and permission to do anything, but I imagine it's just Windows trying to correct years of lax security in their software.

It eats RAM like a man with a 200-pound tumor would eat cancer cures. I read today it runs aboslutely best with 4 GB of ram, which is somewhat insane. Windows XP could support a MAXIMUM of 4 GB of RAM.
And dear god it never stops whining for attention. The bastard child I NEVER want to have!

Lotta 'hype' and money for nothing better than XP....except some scenery!

Installed it on a test machine for a previous employer. As an IT professional, I was not impressed.

Heh, The best description I can think of is that Vista is the WinME of the NT codebase... LOL And a lot of the nosy parts are MS spying on you, rather than an attempt to make your computing experience more functional and productive through better security... (Non-LOL) Most of the rest of the difference between XP and Vista is just fancy pants crap, because they couldn't get the really innovative new parts to work right, so they cut them out... (But of course, MS won't be allowing you to buy anything but Vista... So new computer buyers are all screwed...)
