I think you need to get someone from the Jeff. County Commission on the show to answer for the MONUMENTAL waste of taxpayer money that was the facelift of Cooper Green Hospital (now called Mercy Hospital, I think), which is the indigent hospital for the county.
My husband did contract maintenance there for 2 or 3 years, and he said the whole thing was pathetic because they spent millions of dollars on the outside of the hospital when they needed to fix the nurse's call system, the heating and air, among other things.
And to top it off, for anyone who hasn't driven by that place lately, the outside renovation looks like bird crap on a dog terd. I mean, it is awful. I think Larry Langford sketched the design on a napkin and handed it to some illegal immigrants to communicate with a team of college students from UCF (ha ha) to design and build. It has no function whatsoever.

Who did the renovations? Were they qualified? What ties did the contractor/contractors have to commissioners (if any?)
If the Cooper Green subject is addressed by Attack Machine, these are some good questions to ask. Wait... don't ask the commissioners (for obvious reasons), just pull the papers.

um....I want to say it started about a year ago. But it may have been in the works for longer than that. My husband quit working there in January of '05, and either they were just starting the work or hadn't started yet.

The Attack dudes could discuss the fact that Cooper Green now boasts more than 50% of their births to illegal aliens.

ahem...Back on the subject.
I talked to my husband more about it, and he said that the county had money (reportedly millions) to spend on Cooper Green and instead of spending on the stuff they should have (plumbing, heating and air, nurse's call) they spent it all on making the outside look better (which it doesn't btw).
Much akin to putting shiny rims on a beat-up cadillac. Not exactly the best use of funds.

Yeah well, I guess since Larry Langford couldn't buy him a set of rims on the taxpayer dollar he decided to put them on Cooper Green. I mean who gives a crap what the indigent hospital looks like? It's ALREADY a drain on the taxpayer.

It's ALREADY a drain on the taxpayer. I'm with ya on this. If there is going to be any money spent on that dump, it should be spent on actual healthcare related needs. Not cosmetics. I'm just glad that I don't live in and pay taxes in Jeffco. Our indigent hospital looks like a dump and St. Vincent's health system pays the county rent to use the thing.

You're talking about the St. Clair County Deathtrap, aren't you? I candystriped there in HS and my mom worked there as an RN during that same time. When her car was hit by an 18-wheeler in 1990 just past the Eden exit, she had enough presence of mind to tell the ambulance drivers to take her to Montclair instead of the Deathtrap.
