see my point killer? high level stuff, huh? Quote by bamagatr ''seems maybe time for Dr. Thomas Sowell's quote again: "Another sign of irresponsibility and degeneracy is the unbelievably cheap level of public discourse over political issues." Only because of your 'Smart As* quote of an Insult......who do you 'think' you are, Mr. 'My wife has a good job, and I want more!?' other than your hate for teachers and their spouses, amd most everyone else, can you give an intelligent answer, or do you just to keep on with your childish carpings while the forum is still up?

It's like this. Say, Alabama has a natural disaster. Pretend something really bad happened and we are all in the streets, our homes are destroyed, and we are hungry. Aid comes from somewhere -- food and money is dropped on some dry piece of land -- it is meant for distribution to all people. Paul Hubbard gathers his teachers and says "Go take it all, we must eat and be healthy before the others. Maybe more money will come one day. But if not, hey, at least we got ours." So the teachers run out, trample the others who might be trying to grab a loaf, and take the entire aid that was dropped. They sit in the shade and eat until they are full, then they nap, get up and eat some more. All the while, the others are looking at them... hungry and sad. The others can't understand the lack of sharing.... the selfishness.

Taxes will rise when our legislators realize other things must be covered financially -- and they have already committed excessive funds to teachers. When all the money has been committed here, money for other needs will have to be raised somehow -- higher taxes. but if that money is "committed" to teachers, and they use it for something else, won't they then have to replace it? the bottom line is that it looks like neither of these amendments really do anything... amendment 2 looks like it puts some "restrictions" on legislators...and I like the word "restriction" with "legislators" regardless of the subject... amendment 1 looks like it puts LESS restriction, and I am not fond of that idea...

Being a selfish SOB (DOB since I am no ones son, maybe?) who is working to take care of my family, I will vote yes just because killer and lawman think everyone should vote no. Their objection is more than enough to insure my support. ;D

No. You'll vote yes because you are a gov. employee and you will benefit. How will I benefit from something to help teachers? I will vote yes just because if you are THAT against it, it must be OK.

Personal grudge? I would say calling government employees names just because of the job that they do is pretty petty and personal, but hey, more power to the two of you.

According to B'ham News, new governmental accounting standards force states to disclose their long-term liability for health benefits for current and future retired public employees. Alabama's is about $20 billion in coming decades.
When taxpayers know this, they will insist that the employees pay more of their health insurance. That's why the state employee union and AEA want it in the constitution that these costs will be covered. Hence, Amendment 2.
Nobody else gets this privilege. When premiums go up, employee gets the bill. But state employees feel they are forever immune to these rising costs. Not fair. Wrong.
Blue Cross even pitched in $50,000 to help pay for those TV ads that tell us we should vote yes. They like the beefy contracts and want them to continue. If state employees had to cover more of the rising health care costs, they might actually check with another provider in search of less expensive premiums.
Given time to educate the public about what is happening with these 2 amendments, a campaign to defeat this outrage would be possible. That's why it has been slipped in almost quietly. No time for opposition to tell the real story. Sneaky politicians!

Many noble causes have died in the water because of the attitudes of people like you, Andrea. When attacked, most people tend to go on the defensive. With people like you calling them names and attacking their chosen professions, they (we) will be out in full force to make sure our interests are protected. My interest is making sure my family is provided for. I will vote YES on anything that will insure my family will be taken care of.

Further, you are a FOOL. And I do not use my words loosely. Never have used that word on a forum and never have used it in life. It's a strong word and have never felt a need to use it. But you deserve it. You deal in deceptive language. You twist what people say in order to build yourself up. Dixiepixie is a FOOL and serves only to soil forums.

And you are unemployed trash who thinks it is your right to dictate others lives. I work for every penny I get, and I have great benefits. I have a retirement (housewives don't get those, do they?) and my family has blue Cross insurance, that I pay for. You can call me a fool if you want, but it seems YOU are the foolish one. I am the one who chose my future wisely.

Hey Fool, I'm taken care of. I have BCBS and a retirement plan. When premiums go up, I get the bill.
But the difference in you and me is I care about people outside of my home. I care about people out there who have nothing. If I only cared about myself, I would never spend time here. I want people who are hurting to have more -- to get a little help.
With the likes of you, that will never happen. You represent the selfishness that is destroying our country.

These bills are tying up a huge portion of tax dollars. And although they say these bills will not cause taxes to be raised -- just wait and see. What about other needs in the state? There are other needs out here (I realize that's hard for educators and other gov. employees to see.) Once the legislators recognize the other needs -- they will see they must raise taxes to help with those needs. Or let the needs go unmet -- people going hungry and without health insurance, etc. The feeling so far has been, "Well... as long as we take care of state employees... our positions will be safe... and that's what really matters."

Hey, Fool (dixiepixie), you represent the above two posts. The first one is about those who want to grab everything for themselves with no regard for others -- that's you. The second is about only caring about oneself (i.e., my job, my benefits) -- that's you.
I hope your pantry is always overflowing and you enjoy your many benefits. In the meantime, I will work to see the outsiders will be represented in the future.

Speaking of Lost...can't wait for season 3 to come out on DVD. I believe there is an episode that explains how to vote on Amendment One and Amendment Two, for those that can perceive the clues.

If you want to have a good job and benefits, get off your dead ass and get a good job. I pay taxes that go to support all of the gimmie funds you are always bitching about....What are you doing? Oh, right...Sitting at home being a "housewife" and pretending to care.
