How can the regions branch on 150 in Hoover continue to cash illegal aleins payroll checks, by simply having the employer call them and tell them to, or they will move their business accounts elsewhere?

They don't have to: Banco Hispano next to Food World will do so anyway. If not them, then Wal*Mart.

Has anyone heard about the pizza chain accepting pesos along with dollars. I find that to be more undermining than cashing a check. www.msnbc.msn.com/id/16581765/>EDIT< I take that back, its just as bad.

If the checks are legitamite and drawn on the company's account with that bank, they are obliged to cash them.

No they are not, they charge a 5 dollar fee to cash a check drawn on them if you do not have an account or they will refuse to cash it. Check your facts.

If there are funds available in the account, how can the bank refuse to cash a check written on that same account? If I bank with Regions and mail a check to Alabama Power for my monthly bill and Alabama Power uses a different bank, what happens? Does their bank refuse to accept my check because it's drawn from an account at Regions? Or is what you're talking about only related to payroll? I guess I've just never heard of a bank refusing to cash one of their own checks if there's money available in the account.

i have never understood how banks get away with that charge....THEIR customer issues YOU a check then they refuse to cash it unless you pay a fee?
once a check is endorsed it becomes legal tender, and you have a check drawn on an account in their bank how they can legally refuse to cash it is beyond me.

If I owe you $4 and write you a check on my Regions' account, will you have to give them a dollar if you try to cash it?

Meantime, in the northern part of the state... Regions Bank and AM South merged, and as a part of approval, 39 branches were sold to a subsidiary of the Royal Canadian Bank. There was some confusion with the accounts at the RCB branches, and some people couldn't get to their own money for a few days. They were predictably mad, and there was a bit of press coverage of them... Our company uses Regions, and had to change over some payment stamps, etc. but we didn't have any problem with access to funds. But the kicker is, I got a box from RCB the other day. It was full of some really nice candy, seasoned almonds and fudge, as a way to say they were sorry for any problems they might have caused... So when you pay that next service charge, remember that some of the money goes to pay for good ole Twista's munchies! (There now, don't you all feel a little bit better? LOL)
