www.heritage.org/Research/NationalSecurity/cda06-09.cfm"Our review of Pentagon enlistee data shows that the only group that is lowering its participation in the military is the poor. The percentage of recruits from the poorest American neighborhoods (with one-fifth of the U.S. population) declined from 18 percent in 1999 to 14.6 percent in 2003, 14.1 percent in 2004, and 13.7 percent in 2005." www.moorewatch.com/index.php/those_poor_stupid_recruits_part_4_in_a_series1/The research is present, if you want to be honest in your debate, then do the research and find the facts. I only posted a couple of links that show the liberal viewpoint is not being honest about the military. There are THOUSANDS of documents when googled that prove this. It's easy to find. Only a lazy sheeple would walk around spouting off about the military being from poor families and uneducated.

DOD is a good place to start, but I am not a HUGE fan of the DOD and their numbers. I prefer the independant research data.

dale wrote, "Now just in case any members of the military are reading this, and killer and Kerry know they are just big poor dummies, " I said they were mostly poor. Didn't say they were "dummies." Dale, you added that. Do you think that because someone is poor, they are a dummy? And dixiepixie, I said mostly poor -- didn't say all poor. Both of you should be more careful when quoting someone. I still stand by my statement that read, "A volunteeer army -- where mostly poor people sign up because of limited options and they need money to eat. It's easy with those who have a pretty comfortable life to sit back in their recliners and say, "Send the boys to fight.... and oh, pass the cheese dip." For many young men, their options are limited due to lack of money. They graduate(or not), life is coming at them fast, college isn't an option (for many) because they suddenly must pay their own bills, etc.... they get some low-paying job and realize they will never be able to support a family on that... then they look at the military option. It offers recruitment bonuses, money for college, a steady paycheck, and (I assume) medical care. And this, boys and girls, is just the way it is. The bottom line for most who sign up is money -- they need the money.

dale,
Did Kerry call those who join "dummies?" I don't think he said that. Didn't he say they were uneducated? There's a difference. Most people who say someone is uneducated mean they are not college educated. And isn't this true of the majority who join the military?
You should stop throwing words around like "dummy" and attributing them to others. That's pretty sloppy.

Again, misconceptions based on your opinion and not on fact, but you just can't get past the fact that your opinion and fact rarely agree.
Be careful, the fall from the pedestal you have yourself on will be a "killer".
