This one for bad test grades on standardized tests in Washington state...
From the Seattle Times, March 26, 2007:
"State lawmakers appear on the verge of dumping the math and science sections of the 10th-grade Washington Assessment of Student Learning (WASL), and replacing them with a very different kind of test."
The idea is to do something about the fact that so few students pass the math and science sections.
Yep...should be a sure cure for THAT problem...
And didja catch the part about "lawmakers" determining what the tests are? My bet is that most of them would not pass the math and science sections either...

I'd have to find a link to the story, but I recall reading about the teacher certification test in New York state that only some 20% of teachers were able to pass.
Naturally, the teacher's union contended that the fault lay not with incompetent teachers but with a biased test.
The pro-teacher testing crowd went out and gave the test to a homeless man.
Who, of course, passed it....

Ohhh....the subject of teacher testing really gets me going....
(I'm for it, that is)
As long as there is a Paul Hubbert, there will be no such testing in Alabama....really sad...
It would be soooo revealing to realize how stupid some teachers are...
I have been accused of abject arrogance for saying this, but it's true: as a substitute, I know more science and math than many of the full-time teachers....
