www.site5.com/hosting/I don't use them.....yet, but for anyone looking for a web host, this looks like a sweet deal. I am the type of person that takes a long and methodical approach to buying stuff and getting the most for my money. I have to say that this is the best deal considering the features and cost I have found so far. The one I am currently using has a limit of 5 MySQLs for the plan I have, which isn't going to work for me soon. For those that want to start off with something small...$12 bucks for a year, not including a domain name...but you don't really need one for a family home page or something of that sort....I got the excite plan and don't regret it, since geting it allowed me to try out the cPanel, which I didn't have with the plan my production environment is on. www.3ix.org/one_dollar_web_hosting.php

np.
They both have their own servers, so they are not resellers in that regard.
I got the $12 plan because I wanted to check it out before I moved all in on the Expert plan....that was before finding site5.com.....which is an even better deal. I like the fact that they have 55 domain pointers on the plan versus 3ix, 4...but the real deal is the amount of MySQL servers being unlimited versus 3xi's 20. Granted I will probably only use about 10 right now..but I would rather have no limitations. The 55GB of space is also sweet. But like I said, you can't go wrong with a $12 plan from 3ix if your doing simple stuff. If you take the plunge with site5 before me, let me know how it goes.

I would but I own my server, lol I have 2 other sites besides my baby site, and 1 of them will choke a mule in hosting cost! But at the same time I could probable help them get some business as web design is my part time work and people need places to park their new sites! so doesn't hurt to learn of good deals and from what I can see those are some good prices Also you may want to check out host gator also, they are real good to work with and drtrendy.com is a very good company they have great prices, I think been going for around 12 years now, very fast in data transfer if you talk to drtrendy tell them OutCast sent ya Thanks Bro

Forums such as this you can get for free! Here is just one www.freeforumworld.com/You can do a google and find more but I know them and they are real good people to work with! Um to answer the next websites are fairly cheap to run bandwidth is what you're paying for That is how much data is being pulled from the hosting company what makes forums such as this one free is the little google adds at the top pays the bills, what really makes for a more expensive site is downloads or hosting downloads, lets say you have a download and it's 1 meg well 200 peeps download that 1 meg it doesn't take long to eat up a 1gig of bandwidth hosting plain! Lets say a site like outcast-ink it would run around 10 bucks a month to keep up , but if the members was to gain around 25 hundred or so then you could be looking at maybe 15 to 20 bucks! and then price just rises from there but if you looking at getting a forum system to play with and enjoy you can do that for free most the time you can have the adds at top removed for around 3 to 5 bucks! hope that helps

Most forum software right now is not that different in my opinion. That being said, why pay money to use VBulletin? www.vbulletin.com/order/That's $160 dollars wasted and it's ugly...Simple Machines forum, like the Lee "porn" Davis forum is the best out there right now AND free. What makes it good is the continual features that are developed. That SMF forum I had up, you know the one you went to, took me about 15 minutes to setup and add in all the modules. That's why the Lee Davis forum webmaster acting like it would be a big deal to put up the chat module was a bunch of crap. That took 20 seconds to do...the smf software couldn't make it any easier or quicker to do..you just find the module from the list and hit install..bam, chat room. If you want to mess around with a website...get the $12 deal above. The good thing about this host, like others out there, is that it has Fantastico (http://cpanel-host.com/fantastico/), which actually installs some forums and other stuff, whole website designs..blog software, etc. as a script install. In other words all you have to do is pick the forum and hit install, it does all the rest, sets up the MySQL database and everything..no seeting to get it working...so when i had done it on my other website in 15 minutes...this took 10 seconds...

You are right phinehas That is something to look for a host with cpanel! its well worth it and like phinehas said most everything you want to do is right there a few clicks and you can have a portal site with chat and up and running in 2 or 3 minutes Now getting content on it thats another story as far as vbulletin goes, i would never pay for it! be it as it may if you want it bad enough do a google and look around alittle

Hey, we have a web site with Yahoo web site builder and I love it!! It is very easy to use! I can put anything I want on it (pics, text, video, music, forum, pretty much anything) any where I want to on the page. You also get domain with like 10 email address. We paid (i think ) 30.00 to start (1st month) and then you pay 9.00 a month. We have 2.0gb. smallbusiness.yahoo.com/webhosting/?p=I am not sure but on some of the others you can only put so many pics on a page and you have to put it in certain space and its the same with your text. If you have a small business and want to do it your way I really like yahoo! For me its not a lot cause it is so easy to use and very much worth it for what we use it for.

lawman - I don't think you're responsible for what they post but if it makes you comfortable, most of the forum packages have a standard terms of use page that all people who register on the forum would have to agree to. The biggest concern is illegal content on your site if you allow people to upload stuff like warez, copyrighted material and some types of pornography of course.
jc...glad yahoo is working out for you...but it is steep in price compared to what you are getting compared to a ton of plans, including the ones I posted above. If your needs ever increase, I suggest dumping Yahoo. The other thing is that there are plans, including the ones above, LOL, that have 3 or 4 different website building options that are revised and expanded..see the Fantastico link...which gives you variety versus being stuck with one way of doing it like Yahoo's "built in" option...of course you could forgo the yahoo option and just manually install the other ones..but that's a little harder and not worth the time for some people.

phinehas, would you pm me please? I have something I would like to talk to you about! Um you can get me here, or on yahoo at outcast_ink . Yeah you are correct, as for what the member posts the admin of the site is not responsible for such a post, But every admin can make his own rule on this, Now here is what can cause trouble, Links to warez sites, giving serials in a open forum that all can see, passing serials or cracks in the pm section of a forum, ( in case anyone didn't know a admin of a site can see everything that is being talked about in the pm box, vi database and yes very big no no child porn, other porn if the admin of a site allows it is ok , unless it is copy righted material as for users uploading programs and such, this is a very dangerous thing to allow 1 warez can be uploaded 2 Trojans and milieus programs 3 viruses even though none of this stuff can be posted until the admin of the site allows it, the right one could upload a exe, and then activate that exe on your server and well lets just say you will have a mess on your hands!! now as for content of posters/ members the way I have always done it is like this pretty much anything goes with exception to no posts that are racially motived , hate speech no flaming each other in the open forums, there is usually a flame room just for this! other then that every admin make up his own mine as to what best fits the topic of his or her forums

"in case anyone didn't know a admin of a site can see everything that is being talked about in the pm box, vi database"
Yes, I have mentioned this before to people...everything that is inputed into a webpage is stored on a database.
Just PM me what you want to talk about....I'll get it at some point and respond.

The only way you can read a PM, that wasn't actually forwarded to you by somebody that received the PM, is to have access to the database. Mods don't have that nor would Admin privileges on the forum give you access to the database...only the person that has access to the website itself has access to the database, that the forum software uses.
I will go further and say that I doubt it very highly that the Attack Machine has access to the database that this forum software uses because they would have to have access to the website itself. Since this is s free forum hosted on a website by ProBoards....they don't have access to the website. Therefore no access to read PMs...so message away without worrying that somebody could read it here on this forum.

Whoever told you that, as if we ALL don't know was just jerking your chain. The only PMs she saw that weren't sent to her were forwarded to her. No one CARES what you send in your little secret squirrel messages. You just don't like the fact that the Karma option hasn't been turned off here like Steph did over at Davis, all because of your whining.

No thats not what was being said ( that anyone was reading pms on here) I just brought it up that it can be done! but let me clarify, that in order to do this it has to be some one who owns the site, and has control of a data base!
take my site I own everything own outcast-ink plus 2 other site! now with that said I never read that juke in fact could care less, All i ever do is dump the pms after so long to clean up the sql!!!
and this is how most people are they could care less whats being said
now a mod on any site doesn't have the access to do this period!
all a mod can do is go in and edit users posts and delete posts and move posts to the proper topics , along with a few other things,
like it was stated this is a free forums it is not possible to do so on a free forum system even the ones who does own the forums is not going to be taking the time to scroll through miles of mysql coding to pick out that ( jane got caught kissing a cat on the butt) lmao!!
as far as my comment about passing serials in the pms of a forum and so on and so forth I wil let the cat out and say I could care less if this is done or not!! hope this helped sorry Dale or anyone else if I caused a bees nest,

Thank you, outcast! Finally someone to set the paranoid people right. An ex mod on the Murphy site told lawman that his pms were being read, and it morphed into this crap. What was actually happening was this ex mod was forwarding the PMs to anyone and everyone, trying to get sympathy by stating that lawman (Wild one) was stalking him/her, so everyone knew what was going on.
And let me add that non of the last four mods were the ex mod in question.

I knew from being told by a 'mod' that they were reading others PM's at another forum site!
Yes, Andrea was a backstabbing bitch and she forwarded the mod's PM's about you from the Muphy site. We mods talked about you all the time. We continually talked about how you were such a crazyf***ing loon and had no purpose on the website other than to make any conversation a flamefest about who you thought was going to hell. Andrea was the whore, by the way, that showed up at the Matt Murphy Christmas Party and complained all the live long day that Matt and I played trivia at the bar for drinks. She felt left out. Poor little whiney bitch. Now we come to Wildone AKA: lawman... you are an imbecile, pure and simple. You never have ANY argument to offer EVER. You only bitch and whine and complain about the rest of us that actually have real jobs and contribute to society. You blurb on about the Bible blah blah blah. You couldn't argue yourself out of a goat's ass. You sit at home all day and have ill feelings about the rest of us that have nice cars and nice homes and hot girlfriends and it pisses you off. You'll always be a loser and you hate the rest of us for having a real life. You are a simpleton.
