Any predictions here? Is the drop just temporary or should we expect more decline?

Sorry lawman, I'm going to disagree with you on this. The market dropped because 1-Retired Greenspan said that a recession was possible in the next few years and 2-China is trying to slow down their economy to keep it from overheating. Also, anytime the market has a huge runup a major correction isn't far behind. Killer-It's not a bad idea to sell some of your holdings if they have double-digit gains. I just sold my Otelco stock for a 19% return on Mon. before the stock added in Friday's drop. I'm optimistic about the future.

I just strickly am sensing that terrible problems are close ahead for this economy! Also have read some articles lately that articulate the same prediction! IT IS IN THE BIBLE.....and will come at some point! THE SIGNS ARE CLEAR!

Lawman-I'm a pre-Trib. I do agree that things are going to get worse in the last days, but no one knows for sure when that is going to happen. While I do recognize we are becoming more of a socialist country(aka socialized healthcare/gun-control/wealth-redistribution), I still see the need do save for ones' future and an early retirement. I personally believe the stock market is one of the best places to do that. Rich-Do you actually have anything important to contribute to this thread or will you continue to show us your un-biblical version of Christ's message(ie-insults)? At least lawman is on topic.

I don't think most of Revelation is literal because if God had given the profits actual visions of the future then they would have no reference as to how to describe what they were seeing.
The end is near, how near we don't know, the thing that troubles me is its depictions of a great city who all have business with up in smoke, and further reference that is near the coast.
I hate to think this way but can you imagine what kind of chaos will ensue if there were a total stock market crash and our actual currency was worthless! It is a possibility. Family1st, have you looked at what the dollar is worth against the euro.......we may be a great as far a countries go but our fall will be even greater.
I don't think most people realize how fragile our economy actually is. If the price of fuel goes up to $5.00 or more just think of the havoc. We just think the mess after Katrina was bad..... think of that country wide!!! It is coming. Rev. 18:1-24

Espy-I do agree with you on the economic problems facing this country. I don't mind telling you that my entire 401k is invested abroad rather in this country. I'm counting on the devaluation of the dollar to make my foreign investments rise. As for investments in our country, I stay with stocks of companies that have high pass-through cash flow and energy transportation stocks. I'd be happy to share this info with anyone who interested and I'd like to hear about anybody else's investments.

...some stocks were overpriced as compared to their real value. However, I wouldn't invest $ one in a mortgage company at this point. Those cowboy-capitalist mortgage loans are going tits up faster than they can record.

solinvictus- That's true of almost all the mortgage companies with the exception of Thornburg Mortgage(TMA:NYSE). They specialize in ARM's and have a 10% yield to boot. Also about $4.00 off their 52-week high.

The stock market is overvalued and rigged. People are deceived into investing in banks and multinationals. A crash will give the citizens' property to the powerful. Boom and bust cycles, market fluctuations and stock market crashes are deliberately caused so that people lose money to the conspirators
This is from an article I read, family1st. What say ye?

Biblical references aside...
The stock market has moved steadily upward, with the occasional setbak, since its inception. People, over the long haul, make far more money than they lose in the market.
There are stock funds that are designed so as to profit whatever the economic conditions happen to be.
Aside from The Rapture, I can't think of an economic circumstance that would cause a total erasure of the worth of the markets.
