Wow...you found a media show that had criticism of atheists in January of this year. That would balance out all the media portrayed in a negative light towards Christians in the past 40+ years?...Pleeeeease.
oh and the comments...like:
"shut up"? No. RAPE TIME! " "The black bitch was epecially dumb."
""They're not going to change my belief in God." LOL So if you were presented with overwhelming evidence that suggests that the Abrahamic God is a myth (which their is a very heavy load of) you would still believe in God? Darwinian evolution is the way. Human beings are primates."
I'm a monkey...I'm a monkey...LOL.
"ATHEISTS ARE TOO STRONG
I'm going to punch these people... "
Probably the only comment that made any sense:
"this whole thing is a damn charade! They dont care about the topic they are discussing, just want to create something to kill time on air. "

Wow...you found a media show that had criticism of atheists in January of this year. That would balance out all the media portrayed in a negative light toward Christians in the past 40+ years?...Pleeeeease. I found it on Digg today. It's become more and more relevant since it aired. Do to the outcry they had to do a follow up with Richard Dawkins: www.youtube.com/watch?v=O-jjDLKMswMObviously you and dixiepixie have no problem with this kind of biased news coverage. This is the real thing, not the subtle "read between the lines" stuff offered as proof of "liberal" bias. But it's not a conspiracy, it's just naivety. Can you imagine a panel of "experts" making these kind of mean, straw man arguments about any other group on a "news" show on any network.? You might be able to imagine it. But you've never seen it. But it's because of this kind of mean-spirited attack that we've felt justified in eating theists alive on the Internet.

Why are you Christians so hateful? All that 'glitters' is not Gold, Blondie! Stop it with your judging crap. You act like you're Mother Teresa or something. I could see if you had some sort of control...but you don't and are in many ways a worse example of Christianity than I am. At least I acknowledge I am a sinner and fall short, where you think your Jesus. If you're contribuition to this forum is going to be limited to judging people in a hypocritical manner, then that is very sad indeed.

Blondie-
They were far from being a panel of experts. It was a fluff show, this wasn't hard news.

The only fruit you observe is in how I deal with you and one other person. That is the exception and not the rule. You are very difficult people to deal with. I have admitted prior that I have not dealt with you well. I should just ignore you. I will eventually be able to do that baring no change in your part.
Hopefully you will look into the mirror and work on your issues. Continuing to debase me and other Christians on the forum doesn't do you any good in that department. All it really does is give you more negative feelings in your heart. Spend some quiet time, pray and reflect...and ask for help to remove the need to respond in a negative manner, even to things you feel are negative towards you. Good luck. Also, thinking you are not a sinner is doctrinally a very serious matter.

I'd first point out that "Nightline" had an extraordinarily flattering piece on atheists a couple of weeks back. It was a puff piece to the point of presenting them as mainstream in their beliefs (or nonbeliefs if you prefer).
Of course, that is a major part of the MSM's agenda- to define deviancy down- so I guess I should be much more surprised that CNN presented a negative view of atheism at all.
Second, I'd ask why blondie is so concerned with the depiction of these particular atheists. Is it perhaps because, far from them being extremists in their beliefs, they are much more representative of 'mainstream' atheism than blondie might want us to think?
Of course, if they aren't typical of atheists, then blondie should do exactly what us Christians do when the MSM finds a snakehandler and say that they aren't reflective of mainstream Christianity and should not be viewed as such.
Which brings me to my final obeservation: rich brought up the film "Jesus Camp" which is a blatant attempt to define Christianity by its most extreme elements. I denounced the film....in fact, I think rich pretty much did as well. Would blondie join me is denouncing Jesus Camp as being the slander of Christianity?

Stop it with your judging crap. You act like you're Mother Teresa or something. I could see if you had some sort of control...but you don't and are in many ways a worse example of Christianity than I am. You're right here phinehas. We may disagree passionately, but you do seem to be very civil. Unlike dixiepixie. Believe it or not I am too. When I use words like "dogma," and "mythology" I'm not trying to be insulting. Religious people have grown accustomed to being coddled. The Bible is mythology. I know a lot of people think it's true, but all cultures believe their mythology is true. I believe the disingenuous use of language by theists, like the word "theory," is a big part of the communication gap. Here's a good example. I often hear that the Bible contains history. Maybe, but the magic stuff is not history. There is no magic in history. When historians read old Greek writings they dismiss the magic altogether. It's never even considered as a serious possibility. Christians often want their mythology, magic and all, held at the same level as Greek history stripped of its magic. Things like this are so elementary but religious people seem to be totally blind when it comes to their own religions.

Long ago a wise man had a conversation with another man who abused and reviled him with harsh words.
The wise man asked, "Do your friends, colleagues and relatives come to visit you?" "Sometimes they come to visit." "Do you then offer them some food or a meal or a snack?" "Sometimes I do." "But if they do not accept it from you, then to whom does the food belong?" "If they do not accept it from me, then the food still belongs to me." "So too I refuse to accept from you the abuse, scolding and tirade you let loose at me. It still belongs to you! It still belongs to you!"
"One who repays an angry man with anger Thereby makes things worse for himself. Not repaying an angry man with anger, One wins a battle hard to win."
These words struck a chord with me when I first read them. By accepting another's gift of anger you take it for yourself. The anger spreads and things become worse for all. Refuse the gift and it remains with the giver. It stops spreading and does not continue to hurt.

I think it is silly that blondie keeps at it, even when no support is shown in return. I have to admire the determination, even though my faith tells me he/she is totally wrong. Maybe he/she can go over and educate some of the "flat Earth" people. They have some really twisted ideas.

Phinhas admitted that the idea of the "rapture" first came to a 15-year-old-girl in a fever dream in 1830. en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Margaret_Macdonald_%28Prophecy%29How many Christians are aware of this embarrassing fact? Also dixiepixie, your hostility is a fine example of how Christians are at least as nasty as anybody else, if not more so. I think that pops another bubble in your rhetoric. Now If I could just get you people to study the Bible you'd all be Atheists. www.biblicalnonsense.com/

You can't have scientific evidence of something that's not true.
We lock up people who have faith that they're Napoleon.

You can't prove that it isn't true, can you? Can you hand over TANGIBLE proof that there is no God? You can only say what others before you have THOUGHT was true. It's sad that you don't have faith in something beautiful and pure. I have to ask..Do you have children? Yes, it is science the two tiny cells combine to make a life, but can you explain HOW it happens? All of our lives are touched by the hand of God. The simple acts of conception and birth are all the proof I need that God is real.

Your overbearing Fool talk is repulsive, blondie!!! You have an arguement......A genuine born-again Christian has an Experience! Christians are so hateful. One would think it was based on insecurity. The insecurity of clinging to a false hope against irrefutable evidence. I've gone back and forth about Christianity with several people on this forum and none of them seems to be familiar with Biblical Scholarship or Higher Criticism. My experience is that Christians would rather pretend to have magical powers and insight than to crack the books and study. Does that count? Sigh. The regular response to the religious experience argument is that all sorts of people have all sorts of religious experiences and they're all different and cancel each other out.
